Making The Most Of Your Equine Photoshoot

So you’ve booked a photoshoot with your horse. Fantastic, you won’t regret it!

Now you need to make sure that you’re making the most of every single part of the shoot, so that you get maximum enjoyment out of this.

How do you do this?

Read your welcome guide.

This will come to you via email and contains everything you need to know about the photoshoot process. From outfit ideas, the photoshoot process, even purchase options for products post shoot. The welcome guide contains absolutely everything you need to know. Make notes, go on Pinterest to come up with other outfit ideas. Read the guide when you receive it, and read it again before your shoot takes place.

Ask questions.

Have a worry or query? Ask me about it. No question is too big or too silly. It’s important you ask them, so I can put your mind at ease and help you enjoy the photoshoot experience. This is also what the enquiry/pre-shoot call is all about, it’s your chance to ask me questions!

Provide creative input.

It’s your shoot, so if you have ideas for what you want from it, let me know! A fantastic way of doing this is by creating a Pinterest board full of inspiration. Then, send me this board prior to the shoot. I can then see the sort of images you hope to get, and if it is possible for me to capture them. If the ideas are possible, you can bet I’ll do my utmost to capture them for you!

Utilise the outfit changes.

You get three, use them. A change in outfit or even accessories can help create huge variety within your images. Struggling with outfit ideas? You could:

  • Use your competition gear

  • Wear an outfit you’ve only worn once

  • Go for both a casual and a smart look. Maybe even bring a smart-casual option as well

  • Accessorise with different hats and scarfs

  • Wear your prom/ball/wedding dress

The options are endless. Still unsure? Send me a message and I’m more than happy to help. If you’re still unsure on the day of your shoot, bring more than three outfits and we can choose them together!

Bring a helper.

Someone who can help get your horses attention. This is one of the biggest things you can do, to make your photoshoot run smoothly. They’re also very useful for holding your horse during outfit changes, bringing wipes and a grooming kit with them to tidy your horse up if needed (as your horse will inevitably grab a mouthful of grass or leaves at some point during your shoot)

Focus on the moment during the shoot.

Focus on your horse. This gets the best images. It creates the natural images, the candid shots you will love the most.

Make the most of the printed options on offer.

Whilst you get all of your images as a digital download as standard, printed photos are ALWAYS more special than digital copies. This is why I have a range of printed options available at your viewing session, from:

  • Photographic Prints

  • Canvasses

  • Framed Prints

  • Photo Books

  • Metal and Wood Prints

I have a range specifically so that you can choose some to your tastes. Whilst the prints are included as part of the shoot fee, you will get a cheeky discount if you order some prints at the viewing session so do bare that in mind!

Whether you purchase printed products through me, or through another provider*, make sure to print the digital images you get as part of the package. Prints last, if you care for them. Digital images won’t last forever as technology changes. You won’t regret printing your images, trust me.

*Note: whilst I can make recommendations for some printers, bear in mind that I can’t guarantee the quality of the prints from anyone other than the printers I choose to work with.

Your photoshoot is an experience to treasure

It’s your time to spend with your horse, and celebrate them, their personality and your relationship with them. Which is why you need to make the most of the whole experience, and the images you get from it.
