Preparing For Your Photoshoot

Preparing for your photoshoot doesn't have to be stressful. Regardless of whether you are having family photos, a couples portrait session or a shoot with your dog and/or horse. In fact, the whole process should be (and can be) stress-free!

For every type of shoot (bar weddings) I recommend doing the following before your photoshoot.

  • Have a list of possible photoshoot locations you would like images in.

  • Make sure all outfits have no creases (you can bring up to three).

  • Choose outfits you feel comfortable in.

  • Ask me any questions you may have, to help me help put your mind at ease.

  • Create a Pinterest board of inspiration, and send it to me.

Of course, extra tips and tricks vary depending on the type of session you are having.

If you are having an equine portrait photoshoot:

  • Bring up to three outfits with plenty of accessories.

  • Make sure your horse is clean and they look tidy.

  • Clean your tack and head collars prior to the shoot.

  • Prepare bribery for your horse, this can be their favourite feed in a bucket or a packet of polos in your pocket.

If you are having a canine portrait photoshoot:

  • Make sure your dog is nice and clean.

  • Bring a long lead.

  • If your dog collar is leather, clean it.

  • Bring a selection of your dog’s favourite treats and toys.

If you are having a family or couples portrait session:

  • Make use of all the outfit changes you have and prepare extra accessories.

  • If the weather and location allow, bring a picnic as these are great photo opportunities.

  • Choose a location or activity you all enjoy doing, this will help you relax.

And lastly, for all of these shoots, prepare to have some fun!
