What To Expect When Working With Me

So you’ve booked me as your photographer. Whether that be as your wedding photographer or for an equine or family shoot. You know roughly what sort of images you might like, but that’s about it.

What next?

For Wedding Clients

If I’m your chosen wedding photographer, we will have met in person or over zoom to discuss your wedding photography requirements. I will then follow this up with an email containing all of your paperwork.

I will also ask in our meeting if you have had any ideas or any set shots that you want from the day. I will then provide a questionnaire for you to fill out, allowing you to note all of these down. Don’t worry, we can add to this if needed. I might also suggest you creating a Pinterest board to share with me, of all the sorts of images you like. I can’t guarantee that any specific poses can be replicated, but I will do my best to emulate this within my own photographic style!

Closer to your wedding, I will arrange another time with you, to discuss any last minute changes to timings of the day, and anything else I might need to know. I will then let my second shooter know the timings and locations so that when we arrive on the day of your wedding, everything runs smoothly from a photography standpoint.

Next comes your wedding day. My second photographer and I will arrive early to have a scout of the location/s and make a rough plan. We will also have conversations with the celebrant or vicar to ask what their policy on photography is and how we can ensure that everyone is happy. Then, the photography starts.

We’ll be there every step of the way, capturing all of the action of your big day. From getting ready, to the ceremony, to the dinner and first dance and cake cut. I bring another photographer with me so nothing gets missed, and its for this reason they are included as part of the package cost. My photographic style is predominantly more lifestyle/documentary, so whilst there are some posed shots, I like to keep all of the images as natural as possible.

Then comes the image delivery. This will take 4-6 weeks before I will email you a link to your gallery. You will be able to download all of the images within this, and can print them until your hearts content. If you have purchased a package with an album included, I will ask you to create a favourites list with your favourite images in. Alternatively some couples like to keep it as a surprise and will let me choose the images. I will then create an album design and send you a draft to approve before it goes to print! Once you are happy, I will order the album and get it sent to you. This usually takes about two weeks!

Throughout the process I try to keep things as relaxed as possible, so that the photography is one less thing for you to have to think about. I guarantee lots of laughs throughout the time you work with me, and I’ve also been known to help with things such as gift deliveries and helping my brides (or bridal party members) put on jewellery on the day (to name just a few roles I’ve taken).

For Portrait Clients

I’m going to start this section by saying that when I say “portrait client” I mean any client that is having a shoot with me that isn’t a brand shoot, or a wedding.

To begin with, you’ll get a photo shoot guide sent to you via email. This will let you know EVERYTHING you need to know. From what to wear, things you may want to consider pre-shoot, what to bring, to everything in between. I will ask you to bring multiple outfits, and then a list of items dependent on the type of shoot you are having (family, couples, equine or canine). It creates a much nicer experience for you, and helps things run much smoother. We will also liaise leading up to the shoot double-checking that it can still go ahead (sometimes, things happen that are out of our control and we need to reschedule) and that the weather will be fine for the shoot. I will also ask you to confirm the shoot address, and any other information I may need to know.

The next step is the shoot itself. First I will greet you, discuss any outfits you may have brought with you, and any spots within the location that would work well for photos. If you have brought someone to help, for example during an equine or canine shoot, I will then ask them to bring anything we may need, whether that be treats or a food wrapper, and we will start the shoot. We will then work through my shot list, the location list and outfits to create a whole gallery of images that you will love. We will then discuss anything else you may want to try, provided we have time. This whole process should take no longer than two hours. Believe me, it will go incredibly quickly!

Post-shoot is where the last bit of magic happens. Usually, within 48 hours, a sneak peek of your shoot will be uploaded onto my blog and social media pages for you to share with friends and family. I say usually as sometimes factors outside of my control may cause a delay. If this is the case, I always let you know as soon as I possibly can. Then, the finished gallery will be sent to your inbox within two to four weeks. On here, you can choose to order additional prints and wall art, as you will get a download of the the full gallery. Full instructions on how to do this will be given with the link I share with you. Each gallery is password protected, so only you can see the images. Each gallery stays live for a minimum of three months. If they need to get taken down, you will be informed prior to this happening.

And that’s all there is to it. Be prepared for lots of laughs and fun during the photoshoot. Honestly, you’ll forget I even have a camera in my hand!
